How this tool works
Young and Burgess refined earlier force-vector concepts into graded lateral compression (LC), anteroposterior compression (APC), vertical shear (VS), and combined-mechanism (CM) patterns. The scheme predicts associated injuries and instability better than pure anatomic lists and is the most widely used pelvic ring system in trauma. Tile’s A (stable), B (rotationally unstable, vertically stable), and C (rotationally and vertically unstable) letters provide a complementary stability language; mappings below are approximate.
