How this tool works
Joseph Schatzker’s 1979 system remains the most commonly used radiographic classification for tibial plateau fractures. Types I–III involve the lateral plateau with increasing complexity; type IV is medial (often higher energy with fracture-dislocation physiology); types V–VI are bicondylar high-energy injuries, with VI defined by metaphyseal-diaphyseal discontinuity. CT is essential for quantifying depression and planning fixation.
