How this tool works
Outerbridge’s classic arthroscopic grades (softening → fissuring → deeper fibrillation → exposed bone) were adapted for MRI as the modified Outerbridge system. The International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society (ICRS) grade emphasizes lesion depth relative to cartilage thickness and is widely used in cartilage-repair literature. The two systems are closely analogous at the 0–IV level and are presented together here for practical reporting.
