How this tool works

The 2021 CKD-EPI creatinine equation was refit without a race coefficient and is the current recommended default for adults: eGFR = 142 x min(Scr/k, 1)^a x max(Scr/k, 1)^-1.200 x 0.9938^Age, multiplied by 1.012 for females, where k is 0.7 (female) or 0.9 (male) and a is -0.241 (female) or -0.302 (male). Values are normalized to 1.73 m2 body surface area. The equation is not validated for children, pregnancy, dialysis, or extremes of muscle mass.
