Bosniak and Renal Mass Tools
A cystic renal lesion, a solid mass being considered for partial nephrectomy, and a traumatised kidney are three different classifications. This page keeps them apart and links the vetting guide for an indeterminate mass.

Cyst, mass, trauma
Pick the framework that matches the finding. A Bosniak category is not a nephrometry score, and neither grades traumatic injury.

Questions these pages get
Bosniak or nephrometry?
Bosniak is for cystic lesions. RENAL nephrometry describes a solid mass for surgical planning. Applying either score to the other finding is a category error, which is why they are separate calculators.
