How this tool works
The BI-RADS final assessment category is the standardized closing statement of every breast imaging report. Category 0 defers assessment pending additional imaging or comparison; categories 1 and 2 return the patient to routine screening; category 3 (probability of malignancy no more than 2%) triggers short-interval surveillance; category 4 prompts tissue diagnosis and is subdivided by rising suspicion (4A >2–10%, 4B >10–50%, 4C >50–<95%); category 5 (at least 95%) mandates biopsy with surgical consultation; category 6 labels biopsy-proven malignancy under treatment planning. The framework is shared across mammography, ultrasound, and MRI, with modality-specific caveats shown in the result.
